We have had an interesting experience with a RME sound converter. It appears that the change can only be made in maintenance mode. Incidentally, USBAudio.sys is a specially protected file than cannot be renamed or replaced even with Administrator privileges. I thought about copying USBAudio.sys from Windows 2003 Server, but it may not work with Server 2008. The problem with the Rode Podcaster is apparently related to changes in USBAudio.sys. It would certainly be most helpful to have access to the list and the driver links. As far as I know, an HCL hasn't been published in recent years. Microsoft used to have an on-line HCL and, in many instances, links to the latest drivers.
